the seal on the tranny i bought has a pinched seal. is this something i should actually be concerned about? i never see fluid in the diffs. i bought another seal but the old one is a sucker to pull out. any suggestions?

You never see fluid in the diffs? I hope it has fluid in it, lol.
And yes, it's something to be concerned about... it holds the fluid in your tranny.
I've never had to replace one on a 2GNT, but if it's like any other axle seal, POP it out with a big pry bar (...carefully, this isn't OSHA approved), slap a little (you don't want RTV in your braking off into your tranny) RTV around the outside of the new one, tap it in grently and EVENLY w/ a hammer (or a socket if you think you may damage it).
Fill it with the factory tranny fluid.
