#804, "Poll question: How much did the Final Drive help?"
I have a late 99RS, and just did the Final Drive last night. (That stupid cup is a little bitch.)
I'm wondering why it doesn't seem to help much. I know the turbo lag makes it hard to feel the gears, but the only time I can even remotely feel it is at the very top of 1st gear around 15-20mph.
I know I got the right gears cause I went back and checked the part numbers, and my speedo is noticeably off.
Somewhere I saw unfounded rumors that some 99's don't respond to the FDmod as well?
Ah well, the butt dyno is always wrong... I'll datalog at the track again next Thursday and post results for sure.

I noticed a good improvement. I pulled alot harder. I bet it helped you out some, but since your boosted I think it would be harder for you to notice since your car had so much balls before you did this. I don't know if this is in your plans or not, but I think the shift kits is the final piece to the final drive gears. It's like a P&P intake to go with a BTB. Not power wise but one just helps the other work better. This is my observation anyway.

yea, i noticed larger gains before i went boost. it is hard to tell once you go turbo. if your considering it, just do it. its a relatively easy mod to do...
dirty is right though, put in the shift kit, and get a tranny cooler. i dont have my cooler in yet, im still trying to figure out where im going to put it lol. the turbo took up all the room in my engine bay. i even had to remove the horn!
