#4309, "my new A604 still goes to limp mode. Torque converter?"
Q for experts.
Subj: Eclipse 95 nonturbo, automatic, 147000 miles
Story: I have changed tranny after it switched to limp mode at
60 mph and get burned.
Bought a used (rebuilt 12000 miles ago) one from decent man.
Put it on my car together with all sensors but I left old
torque converter (idiot)
Now I have same issues as with old A604 before it dead:
1. rought shifting( kick when I shift from N to D)
2. kick when it goes from gear to neutral (when I decelerate)
3. switch to limp mode after minute or two
AMCCO people told me that the tranny is OK, the problem is
somewhere else. What chance of that?! They say that becouse
ther scanner did not pick up any codes.
Chrysler dealership mechanic got 6 codes : first is 37,
something with solenoids. He is sure tranny is dead.
Q: Can it be torque converter? Or electrical with cables?
These things I did not swap.
Really appreciate any ideas

Alex,
Post the codes that you have
Many times the reason these trans. go is just a bad sensor or
low fluid level even.
But with the codes its typically easy to diagnose.
Whos to say the newer tranny wasn't bad or had a bad sensor.
Did the new one come with the solenoid pack or did you use our
old one?
Input/output sensors? new/old
