Hey whats going on guys? My car comepltely overheated the other day, Its ridiuclously hot over here these days, I blew out my thermostat, I replaced that but it melted my fan shrouds, i was going to get a Fluidyne Radiator w/ FAL Fans but I have an Auto. So I was reading up and I have to get a Tranny cooler as well? Has anyone done this before?

been there loooong time agoe. Mine actually got so hot it melted the fan shrouds and supports, fan hit the radiator and cut it up. Steam everywhere... I blame the turbine more then the radiator.
But to answer your question, yes its wuite simple. Just order the cooler, buy some line from kragen or autozone ( I would recommen SS though) and mount it to your liking. My fav spot is always behind one of the "brake scoops".

This is going to sound like a really dumb question, so i just need to buy a tranny cooler and get lines to connect to the existing lines from the existing tranny cooler? Thanks

Yes. You can use any hose you want. I was stupid and let someone do it for me, they used regular rubber and ran it between the radiator and frame... bad idea. Eventually It wore through on a sharp edge and made a mess. If you are going with a long line, make it SS, a hard line or take the measures to ensure nothing sharp is around or rubbing em.
Yes you can still use the factory one and then the air one. I say the factory one because no matter what it will leave it the same temp as the coolant (160-100), this is easier for the air system to cool. Or just use the air cooler.
Since you will be using the Fluydine, there is no built in cooler to the radiator so You will just use the two lines from the tranny to the two ports on the Cooler.
This can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be.Filters, gauges, etc can be added. All up to you.
The line size is pretty standard and is carried by most if not all the shops. I think its 5/8"?

I experienced the same thing as ^^^ with the rubber lines. I wasn't careful enough when I installed mine and the tang of one of the hose clamps sliced through one of the hoses. Looked kinda cool on the freeway at 70mph (as soon as I saw the smoke I knew what it was so I wasn't too terribly concerned) the really shitty thing about it was I was on my way back into town to make a movie date with the girl I was seeing at the time and I had to call and cancel on her so I could replace a tranny hose on the shoulder of the freeway. Now I've got SS braided line and it's run through both stock cooler and the B&M cooler. Hardline would be better, but this definately looks more business

It's almost like you were there with me! Yet another one of those thngs we all get to experience at some point in time. If you get a chance I would recommend installing a trans temp guage too, I don't have one put I sure wish I did.

Thanks this thread is very helpful. This gives me more insight about this radiator. I live close to Summitracing they them for 345.
My first upgrade will be my cooling system. SAme radiator setup w/ extra trans cooler and I will also have an extra oil cooler as well, if it works. etc.etc.
