Hi guys I m new here, and I have a 97 GS auto with 47k miles, i might have some problems with my tranny.

1. When I stop the car, it idles at about 500RPMs,
(just changed sparks, timing, idle pulley)

2. it does not accelerate smoothly. It is really hard to explain, but it is something like the RPMs jumps before accelerating. At start off the car accelerates fine, but when ever I throttle more, the rpms just suddenly goes up but car does not accelerate until few seconds later.

3. My car makes this whiny noise when I am on the gas pedal. The sound is always noticable when I m going at higher speeds, other then that, I dont hear this noise.

4. My car is leaking, the tranny oil pan is not leaking.
but is leaking from the driver side onto the chasis of the car,

I jus flushed my tranny, but that didnt help, so is my tranny gonna go on me soon?

Like I said over on Team-2g, I would leave your car running and in Park, then pull the stick, sounds like it is bone dry. Then think the worst...

I have wineing also it anly happens between 30 and 50 mph goes away if I let go of gas or at higer/lower speeds it goes away. In general it sounds like going fast in revers.

New ATF & level is slightly high but it was doing this before also when ATF was old and at perfect level. Car shifts perfectly!

Any ideas?

thanks

I read the other wineing posts but they offered no answer considering new fluid ATF+3 dealer filter and perfect operation

I know spark plugs are not a mod but the car runs so smooth now.

2 things will make it go away
1- flush
2- filter

if its still there its a planetary aka rebuilt is needed

but 99% of the time that all u need flush/filter.... the way our trannys are.... just because the dip stick reads that u have fluid... doesnt mean its going threw the trans...... pull the pan... look at the filter is it black? feel hard to the touch? change it! and bye bye whinny noise

InFiNiT3 since you are our local expert I will trust you but in my post earlyer I said that I have changed ATF about 5-6k back with filter, I used castrol ATF+3???

Shift quality is excelent. And I still need a rebuild? That SUCKS!!! Well when I get a free wheekend I'll do another flush but it is pricy I will leave the filter that I installed 5-6 k back and change all the oil again. Hopefully it will go away. Maybe I will also throw in a ATF cooler.

Are there any aditives you would recomend?

the only additive that i would reconmend would be the lucas oil.... b&m trickshift is ok... but adds silicone... which is bad for our clutchs

wait what do you mean?

I am just going to buy a rebuild kit and end clutch kit which is like 350 bucks for non performance rebuild, and having it professionally installed should be about another 300 bucks right?

the motor manual online calls for a minimum flag time of 16 hrs... so multiply 16 x X (doller per hour)= rebuild labor cost

so if u took it to a dealer it would cost 16x 75= 1200$ on labor alone
