I just picked up a '96 GS for $1,000! Well, it's in near perfect condition and has a performance exhaust on there already. But the previous owner said the reverse went out. Sure enough it won't go into reverse. Has anyone ever seen a problem like this or knows what to do?

well... you are going to have to replace the tranny.

does it whine when you go in reverse?

you have all forward gears and no slipping, correct?

ive rebuilt many automatic transmissions, including the a604, its complicated but its not that hard

anyway.... you could fix it yourself very ez! just takes time... ignor the "band" thing above our trans dont use bands. we use tons and tons of cheep ass clutches ! lol which engage hydrolicly.

Drop the trans , remove the pump and give me a call or send over an email... ill walk u threw it
