Ok guys, i've been reading and it seems that quite a few people have the same problem with their cars. Whenever my car shifts from 1-2 or 2-3, it makes this backfiring sound... Almost sounds like a fart or something. I have a CAI, pacesetter header, and just a weld on muffler. I was just wondering if anyone knew what caused this?

Is it only at WOT or all points in the throttle range? If it's only at wide-open than thats because of the computer, the ECU bogs down between shifts at WOT to kill the power and make it easier on the tranny. There are two ways to fix this, #1-cut the orange w/balck stripe wire coming out of the ECU, but it won't downshift again, or #2-buy one of Infinit3's TCU piggyback modules as it should correct this as well as a whole lot more.

After thought; what year is your car, I don't remember if the wire cut trick works on the '95-'96 models. Check around the board for the 'Torque Reduction Mod'.

yeah i was wanting one of those piggyback modules but i didnt think they were ready for the 95-96 models. I'ts just at or above about 5800 rpms, at almost full throttle and at full throttle. i dont really want to go cutting wires on my car, so i'll probably wait for that piggyback module to be available for my car. ya that damn tq reduction tech..... its such bs.... u know they still do it on the 05/06 cryslers? ie the charger/mag/300c ....even the trucks! dumb fucking engineers... cant wait till i finish my degree!
