the point is that i did worse than my first run this past summer... of 17.02 @ 79mph 2.501 60'ft and 10.9 @ 67mph 1/8th it was 80 degrees out that day .... at the time i had the cai udp and full exaust running on stock 14's stock rubber.... this time i added the 55mm t/b .. ran open filter and put on my 17's w/ kumho and it was 45 degrees outside that night... that should have put me into the 16's i thought ... why would i run worse ... i had a hard time locking up thats why i want the drag radials .. to get at least a 2.4 2.3 60' ft

its the 17" tires, that makes a whole load of difference, also how much gas you had in the tank,etc..

If you have a hard time hooking up, you need to learn to drive.
you cant possibly be having traction problems...esp with the auto

your not using the water box are you???

learn to drive ? dood come on be nice ... ive beaten manual 2gnts at the track and one turbo model spyder ... 2 perfect lights and an average r/t of .342 driver not in question here

15psi in the tires
1/4 tank
yes i burned out as best i could in the atx

the 17's are only 10lbs more that the 14's fully inflated ..they are aluminum (last run with the 14's i got bad wheel hop on my second launch and blew my control arm and my motor mount thats why i decided on the wider contact patch) ... the track was slick ... lots of people were having problems ... they said that during the summer they have more time to prep the track and due to longer days the sun heats the track making it less slick ... mustangs were running 15's that night ... the more runs that i did the better the track was each time ... but i still had some slippage...

its the 55mm TB, its oversized so you lost lots or torque from it, without the supporting mods like headers,cams,etc..
go back to the stock TB and you will be faster at the track. guaranteed....

someone did the calculations and a 55tb is enough flow for like 500HP
some race cars run 34mm tb/restrictor plates

i see what your saying ... a big gulp of air and a straw to blow it out of basically ... would the throttle body really make a difference thou ? i mean the intake mani and its runners are still stock size

yes it will make a big diff, you lost all the intake air velocity. just like you said with the big gulp of air and the straw, the air is just blowing around in your mouth and it slows down alot.

just like you want exhaust velocity you want intake velocity too.
you want that air to go in and out as fast as possible.

thats why a bigger TB is one of the last NA mods to do.
get a nice header or port out the stock manifold and a nice freeflowing exhaust and some cams and then you can take advantage of the bigger TB.

Thats how I started out too, I got most bolt on's and was pissed cause my car was slower that stock, now that Ive got all the mods to back that TB up its much better.

those arent bad runs. i used to click off 18s all day in my n/a auto with bolt ons, 17s and a big ass stereo in the trunk.

youll need a higher stall converter to get better 60's.

i hit a 2.4 every single time no matter what i do at the launch.

IMO start with tranny mods, do the final drive mod, tranny cooler, shift kit, higher stall Torque convertor. then worry about engine mods.
IMO you will get much better performance for 1/2 the price starting with tranny mods.

and IMO headers suck without cams..
oh and go back to the stock TB.

tranny mods if you do them all should shave off close to a second off your time.

well i was planning on the lock up mod and i have the B&M trans cooler ... its just so big that im having a hard time finding a mounting spot for it ... i noticed how much the lock up slows u in third gear ... something that is not needed when running at the track ... well ive got 4 months to prepare ... hopefully it will make a difference .. also i have yet to install my high flow cat that will help my third gear out also .... so we shall see ... i was skeptical on doing the final drive ... i didnt want to lose my top end ... but whats top end in an auto anyway .... maybe the gears but definatly the lock up and trans cooler but i am definatly going with the set of drag radials for my 14's ... anything that will help get my 60's down ... you might say its not needed but anything that provides good contact patch and a wheel that spins faster is always a good thing imo

i took the results of all my runs (the first 2 i took in the summer and the 3 recent ones) and broke them up into averages for the day

original 2 run average

17.041@ 79.95 1/4
10.987@ 67.19 1/8
2.55 60'
.369 R/T

recent 3 run average
17.576@ 81.18 1/4
11.441@ 63.59 1/8
2.731 60'
.456 R/T

my 1/8th speed seems way off .. but i was running higher trap speeds .. weird
