#269, "tranny prob!!!"

Ok it is final.y acting wierd, again. If I take a hard corner the tranny just pops out of gear and into neutral. U wont even notice it until u try to give the car more gas. All it will do is rev up. After about 5 sec. of trying it will slam hard back into gear and go normal again. It only does it around this 1 perticular corner right now. I have no codes to report and the fluid seems fine. It reads in the middle bubble when fully warmed and after being drive for about an hour.

DOH - wanna know what I think all that metal on your magnets was? Read the post I made about my transmission not engaging gear. I dont think your problem is as sever but check near the bottome of where your tranny meets your engine for a leak. If it's leaking right there pretty good, DONT drive it any further. It could be your front pump seal, or even worse in my case you blew up your differential. But I dont think it's that, however you did say your car would roll back then finally catch. You may wanna take it to a shop to check it out, see what they say.

Also, make sure you're checking your fluid correctly and it's the right kind of fluid. Not dexron/mercon. Check those then call me in the morning (no dont call me reply).

Joseph

edit* one more thing. If your car continues to get progressively worse, do not drive it. If you start driving and it starts to fall out of gear then back again dont drive it.

edit 2* im not sure if the tranny fluid and the differential ever meet, so someone else needs to clear that up

ok I had 1 shop look at it and they said it might just need a fliud and filter change. Cause the filter might be getting to restrickive.

I am getting a second opinion tommorrow. They said they will check it on the comp. Check the clutch play or what ever. Both have already checked the fluid and said it was fine, However there was bubbles on in it. That is why they think the filter is getting cloged. I didn't notice any leaking anywhere but I will check again tommorow when it is light out.

Cool man. I've read a lot of times the main problem with a transmission is that all it needs is a filter and fluid change.

Good luck

If the fluid level on our tranny drops below normal levels it can do exactly what you are saying. I personally have had it do this thing where when you sat at idle it would pop into neutral and then you would have to rev to about 3000RPM before it would catch again. Add fluid and make sure you get the level right this should drastically improve your transmission. To me it sounds alot like its just your fluid.

ok The second shop scaned the tcu for trouble codes and found 1. It said "lose of prime". I dont know what that means but they said the clutches and everything looked really good. They claimed that I was about 1.5 quarts low. They added it and now the dipstick reads all the way up to the curve s that is in the dipstick. It used to read between warm and hot bubble. Do u think they overfilled it? I dont seem to have the prob now, but the car seems really tight or maybe like it has a lot of pressure now. Before it felt real loose. Hope I am making sense. Just want to know if they over filled it and what the code means.

Sounds like they fixed your problem if your tranny is giving a "tight" feeling. Overfull would be above the "full" line. For obvious reason . But if it isn't above that line should be ok man!

Tell us what happens with your car, if it quits going nuts.

Um ok, but I dont have a full line on my dipstick. Only cold, warm ,and hot with bubbles. The fluid is way pasted all of these. There is a s shape bend in the stick, the fluid reads in the middle of that

Make sure you are checking the fluid with the car running. You want to start the car up let it warm up and idle then hold the brake and shift from park to first then first to nuetral letting the tanny sit in each gear for a moment. Once this is done keep the car idling pull the parking brake up and check the fluid with the car running bet you that the fluid shows up correctly now. I thought when you described the problem before that it was just the fluid. Glad to hear that its working. Just follow what I said to check the fluid and you should get an accurate level then. The fluid level being correct should give the car a nice tight feel to the gears. Remember that it uses the fluid pressure to shift so if the level is low so is the pressure and the shifts wont be as tight.
