ok, so after spending a second day in the garage, the transmission is ALMOST ready to come out. I have removed everything from the sensors to the mounts, and the axles are no longer connected. All that remains is to remove a few bolts from the suspension to give the axles enough room to come out the rest of the way. My biggest problem tho- how in the hell do u guys break lose the 32 and 36mm bolts for the final drive mod? I've tried breaker bars with extensions and cheater pipes and all i seem to do is spend the entire time cussing and yelling at those damn bolts, impact did no good either. I'm almost ready to give up and let a shop switch the gears for me after I get everything else done. ANy suggestions ???

---Harry. My car topped out at 140 this morning. I need "turvo." Two of 'em. And Harry, I need the glue to be dry by tonight.---

yeah ive tried so many different appraoches and none have worked. Even half inch drive breaker bar with 3 foot cheater pipe wouldnt break them loose. There is no way that they are only torqued at 200 foot pounds.Think i might just pay a shop to swap them once I get her running again.

they are torqued to 200 ft lbs and LOCTITE the blue stuff, its tough but if you use the big breaker bar and just keep pressure on it it will eventually break loose.

I used a Craftsman 3/4" Impact Wrench with the highest setting.

well, tranny has been removed, final drive mod completed, now its time for the shift kit. FIgured I would attempt this while the tranny is out of the car to see if it would be any easier to re-install valve body. Not sure how Im goin to get the tranny back in place tho, cuz it wont stay on the jack- and when I try to use the transmission jack thing, the car isnt high enpough off the ground for it to clear. Hopefully I'll figure something out soon., I'm heading out there in a little bit to start day 4 now.........oh yeah, and I have to pick up a new axle tomorrow (driver side cv boot was pretty much gone.
