#1490, "Thinking about doing the 5 speed swap. Worth it?"

I finally have the money to do it ( I think ) and was wondering if you guys think its worth it?

Is a 5 speed better than a built auto? If I dont do the 5 speed swap I was thinking about just getting some work done on my auto trans. Which would better for street/track? And what are some cons/pros of a 5 speed and auto?

I wont be doing it my self, becuase I know very little on the subject. Im going to take it to the same shop that put my turbo in ( Velocity Resources in apoka Fl ), I have not checked on the price they would charge for labor yet. Would the shop get the parts or do you think it would be up to me to go out and find all the tranny parts?

Im only running 5 psi right now becuase the shop that put the turbo in suggested not to go to 10 due to the auto tranny. So I feel like my trans is holding me back.

Thanks

Do the tranny mods to your AT and then go tear up the 5speed boys emoji . By the way there are lots of people pushing more than that right now. Soulcontroller is pushing 8psi right now on his I believe. Do the Final Drive mod, The shift kit, TQ lockup kill, High stall torque convertor. With that youll be out running 5 speeds easy.

IMO a built auto is better, no boost lost between shifting and you can boost on the line.

Most shops will order the parts for you if you give them the part numbers.

Bullshit. I've been up to 23psi using my ATX. I have a 3500 stall torque converter (non-lockup), shift kit, B&M race cooler, upgraded solenoids and kevlar clutches. I run the shit out of it and it's been holding up just fine... feels REAL good too.
