#1373, "I WANT TO CRY!!! PLEASE READ and REPLY! (long, but help!)"

Hello Everyone.
As you all been reading, I been doing an engine rebuilt for my g/f's eclipse for the past 6 weeks. It's getting TOOO long, and I am just .... VERY TIRED OF IT.
I got it back into the car today, and break in the car (15 mins start) and everything is cool... BUT.... VERY SADLY, the car won't move.

Ok guys, now I have to ask all of you a BIG favor, you guys have to tell me everything you guys konw about ATX tranny and engine rebuilt....etc....

------------------------------------------------------------------
A breif explanation on my car's rebuilt history first:
I got the car, and I spun her bearing, so much that the piston hits the head, and fucked up the whole crank.
I took the everything off, but leave the tranny in the car (only the engine out) And at first, I don't konw there were 4 bolts that connect to from the flywheel (engine side) to the Torque Converter (Tranny side) So I think I BENTED it (that's my problem I think)....
Anyway, after 4 hours of struggle, I got it figure it out, gave it to a shop for New ring, new bearing (all bearing, main, rod) and hone, clean, cut the whole crank, etc...
I put everything back, and the first 4 times I put the engine back, I CAN"T turn the crank after the flywheel (the big gear) is bolt to the Torque Converter. My 4th or 5th time of reputting the engine back into the car, it turns, so I was like.... THANK GOD....
After everything is in, and hook EVERYTHING back, I start the engine... ALL GOOD, sound good and everything, BUT I hear trick, trick, trick, NOT from the engine, but from the tranny....But anyway, I keep it run at 1500RPM for first break in. Then I cool it down and go for a test drive....
---------------------------------------------------------------

The sad story begins... no matter what gear I put the car into, the car WON"T MOVE, it's like the engine doesn't hold to the tranny. I made sure the cable is connected, when it shift, the cable to pull. Also when I shift to every gear, like 'park', the car won't move, and so on...so the tranny to the wheel is FINE.
Also, after a while of break in, the tranny has ALOT of smoke comes out, from the dip stick of the tranny and etc....

Anyway.. here is the problem:
1) Tranny has tricking sound
2) Engine turns, but car WON"T move in any gear
3) Smoke comes out for 5 minutes, but now it has no more smoke...
(I think maybe too hot, and smoke from WD-40 or etc... Hope so)

So any input???
Is it something EASY??? or did I fucked up the tranny from benting the TC when pulling out the engine??

Please reply....I AM CRYING (soon)....... engine is fine from spun bearing... 6 weeks..and now...it tells me "I FUCKED THE TRANNY UP"....wtf....ARR>>... emoji emoji emoji

PLEASE HELP
Any input will greatly appreciated.
Gil:rolleyes

The smoke thing isnt a good thing. First thing what color is the tranny fluid the fluid should be more red than brown if it looks really brown or dark thats really not good. I have a feeling though that you have soemthing connect wrong between the tranny and the engine. You say you can rev but the power isnt going to the tranny. This sounds somewhat like it could be related to the torque convertor. Let us know about the tranny fluid color. I would say that before you go replacing the tranny that you look into the TQ convertor. If the torque convertor isnt functioning properly you wont get power from the engine to the tranny. Its kinda like having the clutch disengaged on a manual.

If something was up with the torque converter he'd have realy bad problems. The torque converter not only "converts" power but it also lets the engine idle. If the torque converter wernt moving neither would the engine. You may wanna check to see if the splines that the TC rests on are in good and not worn out/chipped away.

Hes right though about the fluid, if its brown your outta luck. If its pink then its not burnt. The fluid, like any other underhood fluid, can be a clear indication of what's going on inside. That smoking doesnt sound good at all. Mine did the same thing when my 2nd tranny blew out.

So many things it could "possibly" be its hard to tell. Cause you've got your torque converter filled with fluid, heating up which could cause it to burn prematurely. Then you've got fluid going through your pump - too much fluid burn out the pump and slow the fluid down causing it to heat up quicker cause it cant transfer heat to the cooler. So on and so forth. This sounds like a job for a mechanic at this point, unless you take it all apart and try over again being VERY careful of what you do when you install it back.
