#3290, "Central Florida Road Run and River Day Aug 17th"
Ok everyone. I have decided to plan a road trip to Ichetucknee River on Saturday August 17th. I am planning to leave from the truck staging area on the Turnpike/I-4 Ramp (Email me if you are unsure where I mean) in Orlando at 7am. I am also planning to get a hotel room up there on Saturday night. You are responsible for your own food, hotel stay, etc.. I will be there only as your guide. I would like to see some participation from all of you on this. All of Florida DSMs are invited to this!!! (Hint, hint TAMPA Guys!)
For those of you who have been there, you know how cool it is. For those who have no idea, you will love it!!!
The river is located about 30 minutes North West of Gainesville. It is a state park and has grills and picnic tables. But the biggest feature is the river. You rent an inner tube and float down the river. It is about a 1 1/2 hour float. The river is 100% natural other than the wooden dock you get in and out on. It is awesome! "A series of springs discharging 233 million gallons of water daily gives rise to the clear sparkling Ichetucknee River!"
NOTE: Being this is a STATE park, no alcohol is allowed in the park. If you bring it they will take it away and fine you. Also nothing can be brought on the river as far as food and beverage. They work very hard to protect the beauty of this river.
