#6206, "Fotown, Im catching up to you!"

Went to the track today, only got 2 runs in though. Neither had a good launch. Biggest help came from my new intake. Got my AEM V2 put on just in time for the track. Car still pulls after 7 where the old intake didnt, and it no longer goes rich at top end. More on the intake later. On to the slips...

1st run, street tires, no burnout, very slow launch. Shifting 7k in first, 68 or so in 2nd.

R: .4408
60ft: 2.34 (I know..)
1/8: 10.03@71.24
1/4: 15.53@89.43

2nd run, drag radials, small burnout to warm them up. Granny shifting due to a broken alt belt, taking it to 7500 this time in first and second. LOTS of wheel hop and spin off the line.

R: .3585
60ft: 2.39 (I know, I know!)
1/8: 9.93@71.57
1/4: 15.36@89.61

Im feeling alot better about the car. Next time I go to the track Im going to use the same technique, incorporate speed shifting, and try for a 2.0 launch.

ALSO, Bullett, I believe you were right. My original CAI was holding me back. I put the AEM V2 on, mostly for the larger intake and filter, and because it was tuned and designed for our cars.

First thing I noticed, the "VTEC" noise isnt prevalent after 7k like before, you can hear it from 4k to redline, and it doesnt fall flat on its face after 7k. Second, my air fuel doesnt take a nose dive at the same point. Before, it would drop to 11-10 AFR after 7, now it was actually a little on the high side, between 12.7 and 13.0.

And lastly, my duty cycle, which was 106%, has dropped considerably. At most it was 94%, and I think that was in 3rd. As I crossed the gates I was topping out 3rd at 7500, so I must be going faster.

^^that part is always fun.

Did someone tell you your car would have better aero with the sunroof open? I'll give you close to another .1 by closing that thing (by the way, they should have told you to close it anyway). And as you say launch. That will get you into the 14's alone.

Wheel hop huh? You have upper strut tower and strong poly mounts right? Obviously solid mount would help a lot and possibly tire pressure could be a factor.

Nice runs. Too bad you couldn't get more than two.

Wow with those drag radials, that was a horrid launch, if you hit that I'm fairly confident you would have hit 14's if not a 15.1 at the very least...

You are going to make me spend the money and go to the track early arn't you? You are just getting to damn close, only 4 hundredths off of me.

I guess I have to say it.... Grats...I hate you!

Ha, thanks. Im almost obligated to run at the shootout now. Hopefully we can line up down there. Im going to try to get in a few more track days before then though. You should hit up a track too, see what you can do.

I never thought about the sunroof. I didnt think it would make that much of a difference but I will try that next time. They always tell us to roll up our windows, never say anything about the sunroof.

Yeah I have the strut bar and ES inserts in the front and rear mounts. Im going to loook into getting the sides now too. Im pretty sure just my launch contributed to the hop. First, the tires had about 40 psi in them, I didnt do long enough of a burnout to warm them up, and I tried launching at too high of an rpm. I just wish I could get a track day where I could run like 8 times.
