I will admit, my car has alot of mods but I am a NOOB when it comes to the track. I have never been.

Well I just put some RX7 16x8 on the front of my car. They have dunlop sp5000 zr16 225/50/16. They grip alot better than my 17x6 rims w\cheap tires.

I hate wheel hop and have done everything to get rid of it including:
lowered suspension, limited slip, stiffer motor mounts, solid metal front engine mount.

What RPM do u guys launch your car at?? i am shooting for high 14s NA!!

each car is of course different, and honestly the best way to learn how to launch is to go to a track a practice different things, thats how i did it and was finally able to get my 60' down to 2.2 with boost...don't worry about your reaction times for now as they have no bearing on what you'll run...practice using your peripheral vision to see the lights so you can concentrate on launching...now i launch by holding the revs between 4500-5000rpms, when a luanch i slip the clutch and ease the gas, soon as the clutch is out go WOT and you should be able to keep the tires planted....it will take some practice but you will be able to get it all dialed in with some work...here is an example of how much just a little improvement of 60' time will help 1/4

my first time boosted running

60' 2.42
1/4 14.97

my best run turbo

60' 2.29
1/4 14.50

both runs made the same day 6.5psi, as you can see with a .13 60' improvement i saw an almost 5 tenths gain in the 1/4...hope this helps...good luck on the 14's

I did a few pratices today on the street. Oh I forgot to say, but I have the Spec Stage III clutch w\SS clutch line and the restrictor has been removed. There is NO FEATHERING to this clutch. IT is off or on like a light switch.

Taking off at 2.5k rpm the car slightly chirps, then bogs for a quick second then accelerates hard.

Taking off at 3k rpm the car moderaly chirps, but while chirping it is moving foward, then acclerates hard, no boggin at all.

Taking off at 4k rpm = spinning tires then take off.

I think the 3k take off is the best. Even though it is chirping the car is moving foward fast. For fun i pulled up the ebrake and dropped the hammer at 5k rpm. The car dragged the back wheels and left two dark black marks on the road.

i have a CFDF with no restrictor, while not as stiff as the spec, it still has a shitload of grab, you can feather it, just have to learn the breakpoint, thats all...its gonna take some practice, vary your revs and see what works...i can launch at 4500-5k with tires burning or grabbing, it all depends how a let it go...at 5k rpms a t3/t4 turbo puts a signifigant amount of power down...so if i can get it to hold you should be able to get all motor to stick...

GRRRRRRR I am so pissed.

First we got lost and went about an hour out of the way. Then drove 1.5 hours to get to the track and it was closed. Other people were outside the track mad because it was closed when it was supposed to be open. this is the 3rd i have driven over 2 hours to get to a track and it has been closed when it wasnt supposed to be.

But hey I did race a GS-T on the highway and won.

Oh yeah the guy with the GS-T had a few mods and one of them was a spec stage III clutch, he said he couldnt feather the clutch either.

You might be able to find a launch control module for your car (Not sure I know you can get them with alot of piggyback fuel management systems) All the launch control does is drop your rev limit to whatever you have it set at. In a WRX it's best at 3500 to 3700. All you do is stand on the gas...The rev limiter whacks the specified rpm(think what a rally car sounds like at the starting line) When your green you just let the clutch fly and it's a perfect launch every time. The only trial and error is finding out where exactly your best point to set the rev limiter is. Hope this helps you out.
