One of my friends is getting one in a couple months, and I was just wondering how fast her car is gonna be, because I am have to be faster than her, just because.... I have to be the best :>
I figure I already have an advantage cuz this will be her first stick car, and she's a girl. I've had my eclipse for almost a year now.
I already told her that the is no way I would be able to keep up with her on the highway, just because her car is a 6 speed. I also told her that her car has a stock turbo, which is going to be shit compared to a Stage II aftermarket turbo, correct? I will also have new headers and exhaust by then, plus CAI and UDP, and performance wires. If there is any other mods that aren't too great to beef me up please let me know.

The GT-S doesn't have a stock turbo. It is a speedy little non-turbo car. It comes with Toyota's equivalent of VTEC - and puts out 180hp from the factory. Its also somewhere around 300 pounds lighter than your Eclipse, but...
...with a stage 2 HRC you should be able to spank her pretty hard.

yea they don't have turbo as for the 180hp it only comes really high rpm.. becuase the wvtl system that changes the cam timing to allow more air flow at high rpm. so the car seems to only make about 160hp through most of the power band. the 02' gt-s have a rev limiter which really hampers performance but the other years seem to be free of this lil problem. they are tuff lil cars but they are very hard to stay in "lift" which is a great assest to the driver granted they can work the car. with a stage 2 it will be no competition. with minor bolt-ons u can hang with these cars, they have a weak bottom end, but they just kill up about 5500k rpm. toyota guys say with minor bolt-ons they say the gt-s can hit high 14's but i think that's major B-S. i've been on a celica board for quite some time and most of the guys are cool but a few are well u know. celica.net is a good place to get info and i think it's newcelica.org having fun handing that girl her ass!!!

And by then, I should have carbon fiber hood and have my spoiler off, which will save hella weight, she was already telling me her car is light as fuck, so i knew about that, and already counter-pointed her.
I'm pretty sure she also isn't aware that gas weighs down your car, and she will probably have a full tank. With just the spoiler and gas, that is 100 pounds of difference already, so the 300 pounds is down to 200. Plus, unless she is getting a Celica with some kind of sports package on it, she's gonna have some regular street tires, I have Kumho Ecsta Supras.
Some dude must be telling her shit about this car, because she acts like she knows a lot, but I know she doesnt have shit on me.
I'd bet you I can beat her without even having my turbo in. just based on the fact that I know how to launch and I guarantee she won't know how.

ummm, the only way that you'll beat her is if she doesn't know how to drive. But keep in mind that anyone with half of a brain can drive a manual for a week and get good at it, so unless you have your turbo on, you're going to get your ass handed to you. Oh, and it's "Grand Touring - Sport"

This guy also said he is gonna have new headers -- kind hard to run headers with a turbo manifold installed.
Dude -- what mods do you have right now -- cause the Celica is pretty damn quick stock -- kinda like a GS-R really...also -- the tires aren't gonna make too much difference...its not like a difference between drag slicks and street tires -- you are both running street tires.
If she isn't a good stick driver -- you shouldn't have any problems --takes time to acquire stick driving skills -- takes time to learn where a car makes power...
If you assumed she had a turbo -- I think you need to do a lot more research on these cars.. go to www.carpoint.com -- you'll find some very interesting info. Curb weights.. etc...

So far I've got just some random CAI installed.
I have bought headers and a new downpipe, along with a muffler, but none of it has been installed yet.
I looked at that site, Celica is 350 pounds lighter, but our cars have more torque @ 2000 RPMs below the Celica. I plan on taking off my rear spoiler, and doing some other weight reduction crap before I race her.
plus the fact that its a girl who currently has an Eclipse exactly like mine ( except auto), and there's no way she will have any idea how to launch or use any racing techniques whatsoever.\
She keeps telling me that eclipses are pieces of shit that fall apart, but I think she just doesn't know how to take care of a car. She also said eclipses have hella recalls, but I looked on Carfax.com and there has only been 1 recall since 1998, the year of both our cars(and mine is at 32k miles, hers at like 70k).
So I get the felling she just has no idea wtf she's talking about, therefore I'm really going to hand her ass to her when she tries to step up to me on the road.
