#2662, "Track Results, got some questions."

Well, I finally got to the track for the first time with N20 in and I was really dissapointed! My fastest time today was a 15.1 on a 75 shot(ran 16.2 last year N/A). I was averaging from 15.1-15.5 all night. Shouldn't I be well into the 14's? I can't figure this out. My launch I was feathering the clutch from 3,000 rpms, I was hitting the n20 at the top of first hardly spinning, and power shifting the entire way. My compression is good, none of my jets were clogged, I had 16" rims on and my sub and spare in the back but I know those two things wouldn't take that much time off. So what could it be? My nitro jet is about 6 inches away from the TB pointing straight into the intake, should I angle the nozzle towards the TB? Also I was back firing alittle through out the night, is that a prob? Thanks for all the help, the numbers from my best run are below.

were u still spinning off the line? Your 60ft time seems high i was at the track the other day with one of my friends and we couldnt get his car to get traction off the line for shit. We would slip it out around 2500 and it would spin then boug down then take off. If u get off the line better i think that will increase ur time alot.

work on your launch, you should be able to get a 2.3 60ft time or better.. which will drop your 1/4 mile time IMENSLY.

with my zx2 (nearly stock) I pulled 2.34 60ft's and ended with a 15.7 but on a bad launch if the 60ft went up very little.. say to 2.4 my 1/4 time got way slower.. around 15.9-16.0

so you are either spinning bad off the line and don't know it.. or you aren't getting on it nearly hard enough and you got lots of traction left. my bet is on spinning.

i believe your jet is supposed to be pointing the other direction, towards teh TB....according to NX's install page (which will do for any nitrous install)

Yes, this time slip indicates that you need to practice the launch. I would seriously suggest not filling the nitrous bottle at all and just head up to the track naturally aspirated, and just worry about practicing the launch.

With a 2.3-something 60' time you would be in the 14s easily. You've got to keep practicing.

You would be surprised. If you are serious about getting your times down, get rid of the dead weight.

9.899 660' time isn't much better than my 9.987 even though you have 7 more MPH on me at that point. Personally, I wouldn't hit the nitrous until after you've shifted into 2nd. That will reduce the chance of wheel spin/hop greatly.

As everyone else said, a good 60' will go a long way. My current best is a 2.19, but I've consistantly been in the 2.2s with the current drag radial setup. Even on street tires, I'm in the 2.3s all day long.

If you have to feather the throttle on the launch and only rev to 3k, then there's something wrong with the track you go to. OR...there's a lot of people running street tires that are abusing the launch pad. The more street tires that run on a drag strip the less rubber is left on the launch pad.

quite a list of goodies ya got there sea. only reason i'm interested is cause you ya only got me by about .05 on the 1/4 mile time with my nearly stock zx2... I haven't really seen anyone post times for their 2gnt that was close to my zx2, so i could see what mods they needed to get there. might help that I pull 2.34 60ft's all day long too emoji

No man, something isn't right. The ONLY thing that I can think of is that your bottle had very low (around 600 p.s.i) pressure. My car ran 9.6's in the 1/8th and that was without nitrous with VERY few mods. My car was MUCH faster than a 15.1 ( more like a 14.1, if not faster) when I was on bottle with a 75 shot. My car was very light though, and also had an open header which helped the car tremendously when I was spraying. How was your bottle pressure when you raced?

My bottle pressure had to of been up there, I just got it filled and had the bottle heater on it the entire time. How often and how do you clean the N20 filters? Do you have a pick of where you have your nozzle mounted? Thanks

I was reading through the N20 manual and it said that if you have too much fuel flowing at can kill performance and cause backfire in the exhaust. My car was backfiring and it does run really rich. On that run I had a 42 N20 jet in and a 28 Fuel. Does that sound about right? I just lowered the fuel to a 26 to see what that does. What do you guys use? Thanks for all the help.

go to http://photos.yahoo.com/toejamiam . I have a few underhood pics in there. The talon in there is JasonESI_T's car by the way, not mine. I saved a pic of it because it's the best looking DSM I've ever seen. My nitrous filters were never cleaned, not by me anyway, and your jetting is just fine. I would reccomend putting the 28 fuel jet back in though.
