Hey guys, sorry for asking questions that I should probably know already, but I'm still very new to the racing world and would really like ur guys's opinion. I drive a 96 Eclipse GS nonturbo automatic and my friend drives a 93 integra GS manuel. Neither of us have any mods on our cars since we just got it and I was wondering if my car would be able to take his in a quarter mile? And if any of you guys know, what is the fastest quarter mile times that you have seen pulled off for these cars when completely stock and without any mods?

You probably cant beat him, but thats my opinion. As much as you might hate them, the Teg's 1.8 is a nice motor (I put one in my 92 Civic Hatch). My buddy has a 93 Teg, not near stock though, its supercharged.
Thats just my look on it, dont flame me, I'm still D-S-M for L-I-F-E.

I'm auto and I've beat plenty of Integ GS's. The Integra GS your speaking of has 140hp@6400rpms and 125tq@4200rpms model with somewhere around 115tq I believe. It's lighter than our cars which makes up for the torque difference. It's definitely a close race I've beaten the ones your talking about and the newer generation LS's it's the GSR's you have to watch out for. It would be a close race though but I think you'll be able to pull it off. Try getting him to run from a roll.
New Ride: 94 Acura Integra GS-R 5-Speed Comptech Intake Tein S-Tech On the way: Integra Type R Transmission with LSD GReddy Turbo Kit (by end of summer hopefully)

if he knows how to drive at all, you'll get beat. 5-speed integras of that year are quicker than even the 5-speed talon/eclipses. I used to have one so I know.

^^ i agree.. stock AT 2gnts are dogs (seen too many of them running 17s around here )... it doesnt mean that they dont have potential.. but stock for stock.. the outcome does not look too good. if the driver of the teg can drive worth a damn, hed win. hell, hed give a run to an MT 2gnt (MTs are not much quicker than the ATs)

I disagree with trying to get him to race from a roll. I'd want to race from a stop, and bank on him messing up on his launch. With auto, your launch should be pretty consistent.
If i remember correctly.. the gs is the 'luxury' version of the LS with power windows, etc etc. That weight should make things more even.. it's the manual variable that'll be the deciding factor in the end.
But if he does know what he's doin.. well don't bet anything of monetary value.. it's not good odds. =\

well my friend and I just both got our licenses a lil while ago so we're still not that skilled of drivers yet. If I was to get an intake and muffler mod, would he still have the advantage in a 1/4 run considering we're about equal skilled (both beginners)?

Yeah it won't help that you have what is most likely the slowest 2G Eclipse they make. The GS Eclipse is weighed down w/ extras and non-turbo, plus you've got a auto tranny. I think you'd give him a run but I don't know if you'll pull out ahead. Start your modding dude .
