#9939, "Only Certain In-Dash Screens Fit Our Cars????"
Nov-06-04 12:21 PM by HipHop615

Iv'e been wanting to get one of these In-Dash Motorized Screens DVD or Not for awhile now, I think I might have some money to get one so I was just looking at some of the possibilties on Crutchfield, I went to Mobile Video Section and then it makes you type in what kinda car I have, so I type in 98 Eclipse and it says only the Kenwood In-Dash Screens work...When I looked at all the others it says "Does Not Fit" your car. Is that true? I've seen plenty of people with Pionner, Alpine, Clarion, Etc....If anyone knows of a good place to get one other than like SoundDomain and Crutchfield that would be helpful too =). Sorry Im really new to this Car Video Stuff...

^^^correct. you can fit anything in there, theres a TON of depth. even if something doesnt go in all the way, you can remove two screws and slide the relay bank back a few inches.

my clarion screen was easy- just like hooking up a normal radio. I have the remote box w/ the screen. Wire colors are the same, so hook up the box as if you'ld hook up a radio, then theres a connector from the box to the screen unit.

Some alpine head units will have a "brain" that you will need to hook up under the seat. I just got mine in. Looks badass.... I always wanted a TV in my car haha. Well anyway I didn't do it myself, I paid someone 135 bucks for everything including parts. Also you might want to put bass blockers on your tweeters or you will blow them. FYI.

Ya i would say spend the extra to get the security of everything working and all your wirering will be new and not torn up by someone else. And you wont be missing anything. When i bought mine on ebay i was missing one wire that conected the head unit to the hideaway, since i bought it brand new in box from a guy that owns a sterio shop he sent me one for free from the pioneer factory. that one wire was like 60.00 bux. Ebay can be tricky just make sure you know what you are bidding on. I have been screwed on there a couple of time just glad i got my money back.

Does anyone here know anyone that can make these:

I've emailed the guy who is selling them like 20 times, but he won't get back with me. He'll say he's still selling them and then I say "how much, how long will it take" and I never hear from him. I really like motorized displays, but I think these are pretty awesome too, and their quite a bit cheaper.

its extremely difficult to get the faceplate in the headliner like that. You have to make a pin/ribbon where the face plate usually closes and connects to then run it to where ever you have mounted the rest of the cd player itself. I have deck installed like that in person and he had it professionally done and it cost him a pretty penny too.

I dont really care about moving the faceplate to the headliner. I'm planning on just moving my cd player to the glove box and using my remote. The main thing i'm interested in is the monitor.
