#9928, "radio harness"

I am putting a Sony in my girl's Talon, and got the harness from Best Buy. It has 1994-up Mitsu on the packaging. The weird thing is that the harness has no ground (black) wire. So I have the black wire that comes out of the Sony to a raw wire where I can ground it to chasis. It has been a while since I have had my radio out but is that how the OEM head unit is grounded? And for those that have replaced their stereo recently check out the picture below, is that what the harness looks like? I already have it soldered and bundled, so I guess it is a moot point now, but I felt like asking because something about it bugs me.

When she gets home from work this evening I will tear her center console out regardles to remove her stock tape player so I will find out sooner or later. I would just rather it be sooner.

Thanks guys.

I'm kinda drunk so bear with me.

The black wire you need to ground to the body. Best way to do this is to ground it to the cage which holds the radio. The antenna also acts as a ground and will be a secondary ground.

I haven't done a radio in 2 years so I forget if that harness is right or not.

The reason I asked about the harness is because my 99 RS I think has two harnesses that plug into my stock radio. Anyway, I just got back in from putting the Sony in her 97 Talon. The plug in the picture I posted above fit perfectly. I grounded the loose black wire to the radio cage and everything seems to work great.

Just my luck, when I get around to replacing the CD player in my '99 it will have the two harness design.

On a side note, neither of our 2GNTs have the infinity System.
