I just bought these to replace my blown&shitty 5 1/2s(or whatever the hell they are...) but now I need to know how to get them to mount in...i dont have money for the pods, plus i'm sure i could find a better use for the $60... question is HOW do i modify the pod area...and what issues are there after that's modified?...

EDIT: the 6x9s are 639.5i series

I have modded the pod.. Let me be the first to tell you it is a bitch. We used a jigsaw and cut alot out placed the speaker in got an eye for what we had to cut out and started cutting more.. It took about 30 minutes for each pod, but IMO it was worth it. Just be careful and dont hack your hand off.

Sorry, I don't have any pics of it. But it was quite a bit. I mean.. you can take a big chunk out rite away.. Then the rest is getting a perfect fit and acquiring enough space for depth clearence and making it so it mounts flush.. Just dont cut to much around the edges rite away because your gonna need some plastic to screw back into. I'm sorry I really can't help you much.. You just basically have to go for it and it should turn out ok if you dont rush through it. I can suggest clamping the pod down to a bench while you dremel or jigsaw it at, keep a hand on it tho just be careful because the pod will vibrate alot.

A dremel is a lot easier to maneuver and will cause less vibrations for what you are doing.

Yeah, and it's a big waste of time anyway because 6.5's sound better than 6x9's in our cars anyway. You won't get bass response because there's no enclosed air space for resonance.

I'm alot happier with my 6*9s than the 6 1/2s.. They are a cheap pair but I'm very happy even after I just got rid of my system they still give some good vibes in the car.
