Okay so I have had this Pioneer Headunit for about 4 years now. In this time frame I have....
*Replaced the Face Plate ribbon Cable *Repalced the wire harness *Replaced the plug that the harness plugs into (soldered it in perfectly) *replaced the face plate 3 times.
Now, The face plate needs replaced again, the volumue buttons fell apart, and the LCD is dim as Shit. I have to turn the volum up to 25 out of 40 just to hear the radio, this inturn cause extreme distortion everytime my bass hits. This is pissing me off. The cd-player portion works fine but again if I turn it up, my subs sound fien but every speaker in the car sounds like the artist is singing/screaming underwater. It does this from Rap to Rock. I have the internal sub crosserver set a -3 decibals and the crossover at 50hz. The High pass filter is on and set at 50hz, the bass is set a +2, the mid at +3 and the highs at -2. I have it set that way because iwthout my amp and subs turned on, the stereo has nothing but high frequencies. No lows at all.
I wouldn't complain so much since I got a good life out of the radio I guess but I paid $400 for this thing brand freakin new and I have had this much trouble with it. I called Pioneer and they were like .."So" So I called a local repair shop and just to examine it would be $30. If I had an Oscope I would do it myself.
My question is do any of you guys know where I can get one of these units dirt ass cheap to strip for parts? Or have any other ideas about what the hell is wrong? The new face palte from Pioneer costs $180. shit I would put that towards a enw Alpine if I had the $$$. I will be damned if I pay that to fix this Piece.
Okay I'm done venting, I now return you to your regularly schedule Message Board.
