#9657, "Sony amps?"

anyone know anything about sony amps? i need to get an amp with 500rms and aprox 1000 peak. they are pretty cheap and class D. i was just curious if anyone had good/bad experiences with them.

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

They suck dude, overrated. Check into planet audio, great amps for the money plus they do what they say.

How much are you looking to spend on a amp?
Depending on what you want to spend I would recommend going on ebay and getting a alpine.

I have never had a single problem with my alpine equipment.

But as far as sony, I have never had any of there stuff except for some xploid speakers for my doors in my old isuzu pup.

I had a Sony amp for the longest time and even though I beat the crap out of it, it always worked fine. It actually did almost its rated power (it was around 900 watts into 1 ohm... rated at 1000w @ 1 ohm) and it sounded decent enough. For only $220cdn it was a great deal and it lasted me a long time until I finally sold it. Compared to other stuff, it might not be that great - I had a JL 500/1 for awhile that sounded worlds better but cost $800cdn - but if you are on a budget, you can't really go wrong.
It was a three year old monoblock model... XM-3001XGD or something. The new stuff isn't so great... I'd avoid it at all costs.. emoji

JBL is solid shit but then again you could probbly get an elemental Designs amp for around the same amount of money, and the elemental stuff is probably superior... I don't know the USD retail of a JBL though but I'm just thinking if the markup is similar to what it is up here, the elemental stuff will cost the same but outperform the JBL.

If you go to Circuit city they have some discontinued polk momo amps and subs that you can get at cost, I love my momo's and they are real cheap.

My friend had to RMA his 800 watt amp 3 times! He was not to happy. Take a look at the new Infinity line of amps.. They look great and sound awesome too.

I dunno about their class d amps, but there 2 channel amps (this years version) are underrated. I had a 100 watt rms amp fry the woofers of 100 watt rms components. Yes, they were set up correctly. The woofers are awesome they played awesome right until the fryed. Polk Momo components rock.

Plus they are cheap. I will never buy audio equipment from ebay again.
