Does anyone here have a window automation module for their car?

I've gone through 3 dei 530t's in less than a year, not sure what the problem is. I've mounted them in the door, which is not recommended, but my first two were mounted there and they lasted about 2 and 3 years, respectively, however the last two that I have bought have died in a couple months. Not sure why though (could it be the Windows/motor of the car somehow ?) The passenger window works fine when using the button on the door.

If anyone has one of these, what brand do you have (dei were a bunch of bitches when I called so i'd rather go with someone else) and where's it mounted?

I thought I was the only one who had trouble with these. I have my 530T mounted inside the car where it is easily removed if I needed to change it. Good thing I did. The first one started showing problems when the temperature got over 100 in Phoenix (most of the summer). When the module was warm the "roll-up-when-armed" function quit working. If I cooled down the module, it would work again. Definitely temperature related and it affected both windows.

When hot, the windows would always roll up and down by remote or by manual switches but would not auto roll-up when I armed the system. I even installed a low current LED (for visual confirmation) on the alarm output wire feeding the window module, to be sure the alarm was providing the proper ground signal. By May of this year, the daily heat was enough that I could only get "auto-roll-up-at-arm" if the car was parked in the shade or in a garage.


I purchased another module in June, plugged it in, and that fixed the problem.


Unfortunately a different problem occurred with the new module. The problem now is that if I roll the windows down by remote, they will not roll back up by remote unless I remote start the car first.
I know the problem is not any of the DIP switch settings or wiring. I've been through this many times. I guess it's time to visit the local DIE dealer and see if thay can help. They usually aren't interested in helping out since I did my own install. If they would only look under the dash they would see I'm no hack when it comes to wiring and maybe help me out.

i have a $20 module off ebay that's been fine for like a year or something i think. mine is installed in the center console b/c that's where i ran the wires for the window switches when i installed power windows. my module is used only for auto roll-up upon arming though. for roll-down i have a couple relays setup to roll the windows down when they receive a signal from a validity output from one of the channels on my alarm.

i'm guessing for people with stock windows it's easier to put it in the door b/c all the wires for both doors have already been run into the drivers door for the switches?

i didn't really feel like shelling out the money for a DEI module b/c they're pretty pricey. DEI makes good stuff but the window module is really just a couple relays and a voltage sensor. i only ended up buying a cheap ebay module b/c i needed a simple solution for getting the auto roll-up feature. i could do it with relays but it'd be too complicated to make something cut the power once they were all the way up.

so yea if the dei stuff isn't workin out for you just buy a couple relays and a $20 module like me

oh yea i'm in hawaii so the temps don't ever get as high as you guys. mide 90's at the most i think. i don't think my system would have problems though. the relays are all automotive so they're very durable. the module is only used to sense when the windows reach the top... it just senses the spike in current associated with the motors attempting to move the windows past their maximum position. i don't think that would be affected by temp. i can see how the internal relays on the DEI module might though.
