Can anyone suggest an alternative place to mount my headunit? I plan on putting a computer in my car soon and want the lcd filling the entire double DIN.

somebody mounted theirs where the center vents were. iv seen some put theirs in the back just rearward of the seats in the middle...but those were mainly full rear seat custom enclosures and such. maybe the glove box and use a remote or something.

I was thinking about the glove box.. If I can get my ftp working I will show a picture of the interface for the car pc that you use. And the 7" Touchscreen is $100 made by liliput which I hear they make awesome lcds that work fantastic. And I have this extra pc laying around so hey.. why not.

you can mount it in the center vents, but it will have to be on an angle (unless you are a master fabricator), and even then there will be a couple weak spots. the glove box is a great idea. it will also fit on top of the airbag module (under the center consol) facing backwards. of course, you cant see it, but its a bit more accesable there if you are short (like me) and cant reach the buttons if its in the glove box, lol.

Lol. Where the hell did you find a Lilliput touchscreen for $100. sign me up cuz i will buy 10 of them at that price! and what interface are you going to use? mediacar, Mediaengine, MMC, or frodoplayer? Any PC wont work in a car. Voltage issues and heat issues. I cant believe I am writing this but... SEARHCH and read here till your eyes bleed... www.mp3car.com

I have been to mp3car.com and I intend on using the Mediacar program. I will double check on the site the screen I am talking about does not have the housing its a repair kit. It includes the screen itself and all necessary wiring along with a driver cd. I plan to go this way since I will be doing a custom enclosure for the screen anyway. If I can find a way to keep my headunit in a somewhat convienent location and get the pc I have setup so it will work well in the car, I deffintley plan on doing this

heres the idea that so many little people do and its not that hard to do .... mount the actual unit somewhere you can still get to change the cd's or what not, maybe the glove box, then mount the headunit in your visor and just soder (spl?) the wires to the side of the headunit to the actual unit and do that. custom and fucking awesome.

ive made faceplate extentions a couple of times...its not hard in theory but its EXTREMELY tedious in real life. plus, its a very delicate install...twist the faceplate a little too much during installation and you can crack a solder.
still a good idea if you are willing to tackle it, lol.
