This one is 400 MSRP while best buy has it for 280 something.
So what do u guys think? Is this a good buy? I mean, I'm not really an audio junkie. Just want something that can play mp3s and at the same time look a little cool. And will these HUs work with my old cd changer? Cuz I have an older Kenwood HU with a cd changer.
Another question. Hehe, I keep posting this before in the audio section but never followed up on the replies. Anyway, I already have an older Kenwood HU as I mentioned already. This problem keeps popping up, where if I turn the volume too loud with the bass and treble maxed out, the radio dies. Like the whole unit short circuits or runs out of power. I also have an AFX UDP and two 10" subs. I'm wondering if getting a new HU will solve this problem or if its just because I have an UDP, thus not giving enough power to my electrical system. Because I remember when I got a new battery, this symptom did not occur that often. If not, what can I do? Will adding a capacitor help? Cuz my old headunit has only a rating of 35x4 watts I think. Will a headunit with more wattage help? Plus I might get some aftermarket speakers too while I'm at it.

either of those HUs look fine to me. just pick one based on what you like better. it *should* work w/ your old kenwood changer, but you might want to send someone an email at kenwood with the model number of the changer and ask if it is compatable.

that could be coused by a couple things:
1) you are pushing the headunit so hard it cannot efectivly get rid of heat and gos into thermal protection.
2) you are pushing the speakers so hard you are warping the voice coils and shorting the circuit. this puts the HU into prtection mode as well.
rather than trying to get louder by just throwing more power at the speakers, try and find out what the reason for this is. its possible you have a speaker (or two) out of phase, or one of the speakers is loose causing a loose seal around its mounting point, or any number of things.

Thanks for the reply. Ok, so the problem I'm having is not rily caused by the UDP then? So if its either the speakers or the headunit, will getting new speakers and a headunit solve the problem? Cuz I might get some new speakers while I'm at it already. Cuz I still have the stock ones and I think they've been bumping for almost 7 years now. Ayt, thanks again.

correct, the UDP is NOT causing the problem. if you dont want to spend all that dough at one time, you can try just getting a new headunit first. i have a strong feeling that the old one was overheating (option #1 in my last post), so a new headunit might be better equipped to release heat.
