hey does anyone know if hard wired fm modulators create any interference with regular radio recepetion? does using alternate frequencies have any affect? or is it best to just shut off the modulator when not not in use. i recently hooked up a modulator and it works great but i feel like my reception for regular radio isn't as good now. i'm not sure if that's being caused by the modulator. i currently have it wired to turn on whenever the radio is turned on but i could easly wire in a bypass switch to activate it only when i want to use it. i'm currently using the 87.9 frequency. my modulator's 7 way adjustable so idk if using a different frequency would have any effect. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

It depends on what brand modulator you use. I had one that would block out every other radio station that was trying to come through it when it was on, that way the signal to the radio from the playstation was as good as it could be. Most however don't have that feature and rely solely on you having a clear station in your area...ie. if there is some other radio broadcasting on 87.9 you could tune the modulator to 88.7 or something. Then of course some modulators have both of these functions. Hope that helps some

k cool i'm not going crazy
i couldn't see how i could've not hooked up the antenna good. the clarity through the modulator's awesome but there's definately a noticeable reduction in the other stations. i'll go wire in a bypass switch later
haha now if only i could wire the stock radio to automatically activate the modulator when i switch to the corresponding station

Im using a power inverter to power my XBOX and monitor, I wired the FM modulator to the fuse on the power inverter, so its only on when the power inverter is on.
