#9101, "E-01 Error Stock CD Player"

I have just the low tech stock CD Player in my 99 and everytime I put in a CD I get E-01. Can anyone tell me what the error is for and if I can fix it? I am going to get an aftermarket HU sometime, but right now I just need something to listen to besides the radio.

Mine threw this code when it wouldn't eject CD's anymore. Fortunately it was under warrenty with the dealer and they just replaced. I think the code has something to do with an internal error.

E-01 usually is an internal error either in the drive mechanism or the lazer mechanism...can't remember which.

You won't fix it, it will cost you half the price of a good aftermarket head unit to get it "fixed"...just live with the radio until you get a good headunit.

That's kind of what I figured. Ah well time to save I guess. I'm surprised the bitch didn't throw a CEL for this too.

pffft, my SRT throws a CEL if you leave the gas door open.

I would be willing to bet that the pick-up mechanism took a dump on your parade. I see that kind of thing every day, I'm in the business of repairing audio equipment, and I am the lucky one who gets all of the 12 volt stuff. mechanical problems are usually attributed to some kid sticking his pokemon cards in the CD slot, they typically don't fail too often.

one thing I might suggest trying is disconnecting the power to it for about five minutes then hook it back up. sometimes the microcontrollers will get pissy and do things like give error codes, I've seen it. good luck emoji

I have had it completely out of the dash and unhooked for longer than 5 minutes. Did absolutely the same thing. And no Pokemon cards in there either. lol
