#894, "Making a house electric into a car electric"

Sorry for the confusin subject, anyway, you know how you can buy those stobe lights at Spencer's or any store for your house. Well I was just wondering how would i hook it up to my car battery, or is it even possible. I cut off the end part with the 2 medal prongs that go into the outlet (dont know the exact name of it, emoji ) anyway, stupid me, when i was cuttin it off, i had it plugged in and all i hear is a loud snap and then all the power cuts out, lol. (Mental Note: make sure to unplug stuff before cutting wires with scissros)

Anway, i though i could just hook up on wire to the Pos. and one to the neg. battery to see if it even powered on, but it didnt. What am i doing wrong all u electrical guys?

this what you can do...
kinda ghetto but oh well...
go to radio shack and get a car ac/dc converter, buy a second cigarette lighter, open up your console, splice into the correct wires for the cigarette lighter and hook up the new one behind the dash, then plug in your ac/dc converter into that, then plug in the house hold object, should work

man you are one lucky person, but all you really need to do is get an inverter for your car you can get them for light 25 bucks at radio shack and then you can plug that into your cigarette lighter and then plug the two prong plug (which you cut off) into the inverter. you can run a tv on this/playstation anything that plugs into household 120vac, you just have to buy a bigger one if you want to plug more that one/two things into it

That strobe is 120 volts AC (alternating current)
Car voltage is 12 volts DC (direct current)

You could have electrocuted yourself cutting a plugged in wire. You could do electrical system damage hooking the ac light directly to the dc battery. Get a power convertor or for cheaper, buy 12volt strobes.

lol, looks like im real lucky. im trying to do this cause i dont want to go spend 120 bucks on those crappy ass strobes that go real slow in your headlight, when i can use this strobe i already have that can flash hella fast, lol. so basically i need to buy an inverter and reconnect the 2 wires from my strobe to my 2 prong thing
