I have noticed a weird clicking sound in my speakers in my car rectently. It's hard to explain, but I will do the best I can.
I will be listening to a CD or the radio and there will be 3 or 4 clicking static beats. It happens about 4 times a week, listening to the radio everyday. I just recently started noticing it in my headphones when I listen to my iPod, it happens every once and while. Then this morning, while taping the morning show at my school, it happened again.
I'm not an expert but I have a pretty good knowledge when it comes to Audio (I plan on majoring in it next year at college), but I have no idea what this could be. Thanks for any help guys.

i'm confused as to when it's happening... you're asking about static through speakers in general and not just in your car?

is it in the audio data or in the hardware?

sounds like a grounding problem, either through the headunit or through one the voice coils on a speaker (which may be going bad).

do all the speakers "click", or just one?

That's the thing, I don't know how it can be a grounded problem because it happens outside of my car (in my headphones and in the tv studio at my school). It is not in any of the sources being played (ie. CD or radio) so I don't know what it could be. I have a hard time believing it is in the speakers because when the show was recorded we heard the clicking and then when it was replayed throughout the school the clicking happened on all of the televisons.
I just think it's kinda weird that I started hearing this sound first in my car, then in my headphones and now I can hear it in the sound system we record with at school.
P.S- It is really there and is not just somehting I am hearing, my brother hears it too and so did everyone else I asked today who watched the show.

say WHA?! thats wierd man, are you using the same source material? some compression techniques are prone to adding clicks and pops. when recording. so let me ask you this: it doesnt just ahppen in your car, it happens on totally isolated systems as well? im confused, lol.

I dont know if this will help at all, but on most my of stereo items if i am using my nextel it will click in the speakers...epecially if i am using the two way function.

it does that w/ all cell phonme use....speakers will bug out when close to a ringing or in use cell phone....u got a plate in your head greag....F**ked up IMO....lol....

Nextel's are HORRIBLE emitters, since they use a packet burst radio system.

GSM fones like Cingular, ATT, and Tmobile are bad, as they initiate connections with each tower for data service.

PCS are always streaming, so they pretty much just buzz.

But any cellphone within 2 feet of the radio will cause interference.
