A few months ago I thought I blew my rear speakers. So I bought some DEI Viper 650.2 components and put them in kick panels in the front, got an IDQ12 sub and Avionixx 600.4 amp to power it all. This was a major budget system. Only spent $500 total including building the box and all the wires. I never thought a budget system could sound so good! I was listening to that new CeeLo song with Ludacris, it pounds so hard and clean I can still feel it in my stomach.

I did tons of research (www.caraudioforum.com, www.caraudio.com, and www.soundillusions.net). I almost bought a e12k but they were on backorder for long time so I had sounddomain price match the IDQ and got that for $130. I would have never built my own box, or sealed the Qlogic kickpanels I picked up without those sites.

I really like the Avionixx amp. Alot of people recommended them as a mid range amp comparable to PPI, JBL, etc. I'm not too familiar with the sound differences between amps but my speakers sound crystal clean and get very loud without distorting. I have it running 110w to each of my components and the back channels bridged running 300w to the sub all at 4 ohm. The amp is 2 ohm stable. Here's a link to the amp I have http://www.avionixxusa.com/ep/axa_6004.htm, Elemental Designs highly recommend and sell Avionixx amps at www.edesignaudio.com. I paid $175 for the amp off a forum member at caraudioforum.com (great deal!).

As for the QLogic kick panels, I highly recommend that anyone who has them...SEAL THEM NOW!! I installed them regularly just because I wanted to hear my speakers and they sounded okay. After fiberglassing a base and the inside of the kick panel, and stuffing it with Polyfill it sounds 100x better. The midbass is just crazy on these Viper 650.2's (these are oversized 6.5's, they're more like 7's) I had to custom mount these in sort of a generic fashion to the kick panels but it worked out beautifully. I'll see if I can take some pics, not sure if I will take some of the back of the kickpanels now since they are such a PITA to get them mounted.

^^^thanks for the review. i didnt realize elimental was pushing amps now.....last time i checked up on thier products was a LONG time ago though, lol. i trust that company, so i guess the amps are worth a try. that "cens" noise reduction thing looks kinda cool, i tried reading some stuff about it but it didnt display properly in my browser. i wonder if its just some form of a noise gate?

anyway, thanks for your fast response. emoji

From what I've read on the forums that cens is a great feature but can really f- up the sound if you don't set it right. I guess the rule of thumb is if it sounds good with the factory settings, leave it at the factory settings.
