Here is the deal, i just got the pioneer 4600mp for my boat. It is an mp3/WMA player and i need to know what programs to rip/burn all my car cd's with (20 of them). I want minimal cd's flopping around in the boat. So any advice on burning ripping in WMA format would be great. What programs do you guys use? Also, WMA's are evensmaller then mp3's right?
Lastly, i want a wired remote for my head unit to put on the back of the boat this way i can change the songs and crap wihtout crawling back into the boat. My question is where can i get these for pioneer HU's. This head unit has a special input for wired remotes, so i need a special kind/brand. thanks.

1) WMAs are MUCH larger than mp3s. the advantage is the slightly higher audio quality, but its not worth it in most cases.
2) i use musicmatch jukebox for ripping CDs. it will connect to a database that contains all the file info for each song, so when you play the ripped mp3 you will be able to retain song names, etc. there are a ton of programs out there for doing this though, so you have many options.
3) pioneer offers wired remote, just go to thier website. the problem is that the wire may not be long enough to reach a feasable distance. i would look into getting a wireless remote, and then using a system of wireless "bases" that can extend the range, not only in length, but around corners, etc.

ya, that doesnt surprise me, thats why i suggested going the wireless route. if there IS a wireless remote option for that headunit, you could use an extender such as this product:
that would effectivly increase the range and angle of transmission from the remote to the headunit. of course, if you have a direct line of vision to the headunit from wherever you plan on using the remote, you may not need an extender.

"Is there a way to buy one for say like clarion and splice into some other type of connection so it works?"
no, not unless you have a SERIOUS background in electrical theory and can solder pretty well. if you must have the wired remote, you can probably take it to an electronics repair shop in your area and have the wire extended. call around first though to make sure they can do it.

also, what is a good program to rip/burn in mp3 format. Everything i try it ends up just burning in regular format and only getting maybe 20 songs on a cd. so whats going on here?
thanks for all the help

sorry for being confusing....
you cant use another brand of wired remote on you current HU. you may possibly be able to take a wired remote intended for you HU to an electronics shop and have them cut and re-splice the wires w/ an extender, so it would be longer.
as far as file types go, you will first need to upload the tracks onto you computer from the CD, and then transform them into mp3 files. there are many MANY programs to do this. if you have a general question about file types/transformation, i suggest you post it in the pits area, you will get some great responces thee.
