I'd like to convert my whip antenna to a fully automatic power antenna...but don't know what to be looking for when I go shopping for one...are the ones from Kragen or CircuitCity any different from the others that are out there? Where do you suggest I look for one?
Thanx!!!

i would just suggest looking for a stock power one....i would believe there might even be a plug for it making it really easy to hook up....plus it would mount easily and look stock ive never done it, i just shaved mine, but this is at least my input doug

check ebay. hirschmann or somethin. runs about $50. pretty easy to do. more of a pain if the stock wiring isn't there. they come in black or chrome. there's lotsa space behind the panels in the trunk. our stock power antenna's have an obscene amount of wiring. aftermarket usually has like 3. power, ground, trigger. oh and the actuall antenna wire.
hit me up if you need help. it should take like 30 min to install if you have stock wiring in place. little longer to run wires up front.

if you don't have the wiring there (as my 95 RS did not) hooking up a stock antenna will be a major PITA. that thing has 7 - yes SEVEN wires to hookup. for the most part people haven't even figured out what all of them were for.
i have installed a hirschmann universal power antenna in my car and my friends 92 240sx with no problems. very easy to install unless you have no basic electrical knowledge. they're adjustable as well so you can angle your antenna however you like. our cars usually have them pretty straight up but my friends 240 looked better with it at a fairly steep angle.
they're like $35ish brand new on ebay but most people charge about $10-15 for shipping.
He'll answer any questions and the unit was half price of a used factory one I was biddding on but didn't win. I'm glad I got this one instead. I installed a switch hidden by the radio so I can leave the antenna down since my head unit will power up the antenna whenever the head unit is on. I prefer the antenna to stay down when listening to CD's or Ipod tunes. His listing says the antenna isn't recommended for 2G Eclipse's with spoilers since it could catch when you have the hatch up. He sold me a slightly different unit than the one in the auction above and it works great. It's longer so the hatch can't catch it when you close it. I think either would work fine. He was very helpful and sent a wiring schematic as well.

as far as i know the stock spoliers (turbo and 3 piece) don't have any issues w/ power antennas. the only aftermarket one you hafta watch out for is the wings west commando. it hangs over where the antenna goes so there is a hole in the wing to allow the antenna to extend up through the wing. now if your antenna is up and you open your trunk you will fuck up your antenna quite nicely. i know a couple people had this problem already.
i have the same wing but haven't installed it yet. because of this issue i made provisions when installing the antenna. i simply wired a relay inline with the trigger wire which basically cuts the signal when the hatch pin is triggered. or more simply - pop the trunk an the antenna goes down. once the trunk is fully closed it goes back up

Shave the antennae get a hidden one.. The only thing you would have to worry about for the antennae is the acc wire from the harness to turn it on and ground the other wire somewhere else. The things are a bitch and frustrated me so much when remounting. I'm gettin the hole shaved I have a hidden antenna that works great and the car will look sexy without this big dick stickin up while im drivin fuckin up my streamlined car. This is my opinion

I have one from Circuit City cuz i used to work there. It mounts right up, I don't know what all the bitching is about. And it has 3 wires. Black, Red, and Blue.....Black is ground, Red is 12v, and Blue is a remote which goes up to your head unit. Pretty fuckin easy if you ask me

ditto... install was very straight forward. it only takes long if you hafta run wires b/c you don't have any stock wiring.
