Haven't had time to install it yet. But, is WMA format better than MP3? It plays both. I remember microsoft saying WMA was better. On my homesystem I usually like 192 bitrate, but my car system is stock with a sub and cheap tweeters added. Would WMA 160 bitrate be good? I assmue I can organize my files using folders, or am I wrong?

This radio has preamp outputs but no subwoofer preouts. Is there anyway to use the preamps for my subwoofer? I didn't pick out this radio. My dad took this out of his car before he traded it in and gave it to me. Thanks

I prefer MP3 to WMA, but it just depends on what bit rate it was recorded at. As far as your pre-outs go, you can use the rear pre-outs for your sub. The deck wont have a built in sub volume because of this, but it will work just as good.

The main difference between WMA and MP3 and OGG and whatever else is the compression algorithm. Which means certian songs compress better than others, and you can store a different number of songs on a single CD.

The bitrate is what really matters. 128k is noticably compressed, 160k is nice, 192k is perfect audio for most people.

in a car environment, you would be hard pressed to find an audible difference in any compresion format about 128k. however, if you really listen, youll notice some differences w/ the sound of mp3s, most noticable muddyness below 200hz and a slight lowering of crispness in the upper frequencies (above 4khz or so). so its a comprimise: massive WMAs that sound SLIGHTLY better or tiny mp3s whos sound quality wont be noticed given some wind/engine/tire noise. i typically use WMAs when the recording is subtle and well recorded (jazz, classical, acoustic stuff), and mp3s for everything else.
