Subject explains it. Specifically a 4 channel amp. Can someone please make a diagram for me. I am doing a major overhaul on the interior from new seats dynomatting to a complete system. Most help is appreciated.

they wire up just like any normal speaker. Components have an outboard crossover unit which has 1 input from your amp and 2 outputs to the individual speakers. So no extra thinking is required

haha, unless u really want to think, and run each peice of the component set on a single channel, trash the crossovers and buy some really nice crossovers like audiocontrol or rayne (sp). most instances u dont need to do this, mostly a competition thing imo. U'll be fine the way amiller said.

Yea I dont want to get too indepth.. I just want to get some very crisp sound all around me and wire it all to amps. How good are those dolby digital processors? It only works for stuff that is encoded in dolby digital rite?

^^^ill take that 10 aaron, but only if i could tune the active xover and if it was an a/b test. passives sound quite a bit different to me at higher volumes because of saturation.

back to the question at hand....

just do what aaron said, lol. wire up the component set with the passive crossover that comes with it. adding an active crossover (the kind that needs an external power source to work) will let you fine tune the sound, but can also get you in a lot of trouble and make things sound like shit if you arent experienced with SPL meters and phase alignment.

as far as the "dolby digital", that referes to a unique form of sound encoding used in movies (a a teeny bit of music) to form surround sound. just like you need an mp3 player to "read" mp3s, you need a dolby decoder to decode and process the soundfield. DTS is also another popular form of surround sound encoding, just a different form of it. dolby also has technology called "pro logic" that uses a fairly simple system to take a 2-channel (left and right) source (such as a CD) and mess w/ it a bit to add extra channels so that you get a "fake surround sound" effect. anyway, i wasnt dsure if thats what you were asking about but theres some info for you.

if you were refering to just a "digital processer", that could be a variety of things like EQs and crossovers. i would stay away from adding any extra stuff til you get a simple system down pat.

Ok! Thanks guys.. What is your opinion on the Alpine Type R Components? I would like to try and do my components and subs amps all alpine.. I want to stick to one brand even tho my headunit is Pioneer (DEH-P8500)

Alpine Type R's are an excellent starter component set if you're thinking about getting serious about high quality audio in the future. Later down the road you'll be looking at MB Quarts I am right now.
