very nice!...where exactly is the computer part? Is that it in the top 'stereo' slot? How much did it run you to build it?

yeha i built this myself. in the first set of pictures, the computer is above the stereo in the dash. in the second set of pictures, i put the computer under my driver's seat, removed the headunit all together and put the screen in the double din spot. cost about $1400 for everything.

James

Yeah it's a pretty cool idea. Here are some links to get you guys started. These are only a couple and Xenarc is a little expensive but there are tons of places out there. There was a couple of really cool car computers at SEMA that are coming out in the next year or so.

You could hook up a modded Xbox to an indash LCD and get the same results, plus it would be cheaper. You can replace the Xbox HD with any size you like and play games, watch movies and tv shows with the media player, and listen to music from the HD. Granted its a little bigger, but your looking at $300-$400 for one that has a 120gb HD in it.

Lol, not even the same. His is a fully functional computer with Logging software, GPS, wireless internet etc. All the good shit. Plus a touch screen. The xbox is huge, while his computer is small. The Car-puter idea is a good idea, although expensive. I am still working on getting mine together right now. Those stupid Opus DC-DC power supplies are expensive.

goddmn...44megs? and im only getting like 43kbps. oh well, ill wait, lol.

i have a baerly used q-pc sitting here w/ all the accesories (GPS, wireless keybourd/mouse, and a new wireless system waiting to be installed). the best part is: i got it all for free. emoji

i was researchnig building one though a while back, and it looked like the cost was going to be around 400-500 for the puter, and about 200 for the screen. the forum at www.mp3car.com is a great source of info for someone looking to start this project!

eit: whoa old thread alert. i knew this looked familiar, lol.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:
