ok i want to build a box for my subs but its not for my eclipse. does it matter how far the bottom of the box is from the sub's magnet, in this car, Hundai Santro, i am gonna mount the sub vertical cuz there is no room to mount it horizontally. i have like 15 inchs of room from the hatch to the back seat. can i design the box so most of the "space" is on the sides and not directly behind the sub.
hope that makes sense
later
"Z"

arron is right, allow at least 2" of air between the back of the subs magnet and the rear wall of the box (for cooling purposes) and youll be fine.

I have a question pertaining building sub boxes.. I want to run Alpine Type R's.. 2 10" to be specific.. I heard they sound best when in sealed boxes. Do subs like these have to be in a certain size box or can I have it in an adequate sized box made of MDF and expect to be alright with it. Also.. Is there any kind of vinyl that you can get and stretch over MDF to make it look like its part of the car (Trunk vinyl to be exact)
