#8159, "radio stopped working"
Feb-15-04 11:04 AM by Mystic511

My radio doesn't pick up any FM stations. I think it still picks up some of the stronger AM stations, but the FM is completely static.

The antenna still rises properly, so I'm not sure what's going on. Is it a bad fuse or wire? I would figure even if the antenna was messed up that it would pick up something. Definately don't think it's a fuse since everything else in the car is still working properly. CD and tape parts of the system still work.

It was working a couple days ago and all of a sudden it just died.

Has this happened to anyone or anyone know a solution?

Kinda sounds like your antenna plug came out of the radio, or came apart at the bottom of the antenna itself. May want to check out the back of the radio first..

I think it broke that day after the antenna was getting stuck as it retracted itself. I turned the radio on and off a couple times to get the antenna to go up and down, finally it went all the way down.

I guess something is clogged back there and pulled out a wire. I'll have to take a look.

Would chilton's manual have a diagram of the radio antenna?

mine is like that as well.. make sure no rcas are touching the back of your hu and the anteanna wire. that could cause bad fm reception.
