Just wondering if you guys did any modifications to the speaker bracket that is there, or if you just screwed the new speakers in...I know they fit perfect and all (got it sitting in front of me)...just curious how you guys went about doing it...

I traced the outline of the stock speaker housing (the piece that bolts to the door that the speaker bolts into) onto a sheet of mdf, cut it out twice, then cut holes for the speakers to fit in, then i just screwed the mdf frames into the door with 4 drywall screws a piece, and installed the speakers. I've had it set up like that for about 6 months now and it sounds great.

I have 6.75's and I blitzed out the entire basket. Then I made my own mounting ring out of abs, adhered it to the braket in the door, sealed it with 3m non-curing caulk, put a ring of that around my speaker, and mounted it in.

i hear good things about the CDT's..... why is it that my 6.5's dropped right in? THere are only 3 screws holding them in (2 on top, one on bottom) but the screws are solid and the speakers don't rattle/sound great.....
Am I waiting for disaster here?

It depends on the speaker. If you have low end Pioneer or Sony 6.5's then you're fine. They have small magnets and shallow depth. On the other hand, if you'relike me and have 6.75" component sets that have a bigger magnet and deeper depth than some 10" subs then you have to modify the shit out of the door to fit them
