#8092, "Buying 6x9's this weekend. Eclipse, JL Audio..any other suggestions?"

I'm looking to spend $150-$200 on the speakers. I went to a local audio shop and the guy recommended the Eclipse SP8992 for $199 (could probably get them for $180) http://www.eclipse-web.com/

and also the JL Audio TR690-Txi for $139
http://www.jlaudio.com/evolution/TR690TX.html

the VR series is $219 but he said to go with the Eclipse if I was spending that much, I agreed by the sound.

I like the Eclipse better but the JL's sounded good. The Eclipse says it needs a 3 7/16" mounting depth. I'm not afraid to dremel, hammer, cut, bend to make it fit. I could also make a spacer since there's enough clearance. Anyone have any other recommendations?

Oh and I plan on getting a 4 channel amp this summer when I make my car pc.

Uhm, well I would get a set of components rather than 6X9's personally. And you can get some decent ones for $200. Just a thought.

why would you get components over 6x9's for the rear? I don't plan on getting a sub and I don't need alot of bass. I thought this eclipse model would be good. It even has a seperate crossover for the tweeter. The Infinite 6.5's that are in there now have enough bass for me but one of them just blew (friend drove my car and turned the volume all the way up just to be a dumb ass).

I would suggest going with 6.5 woofers in the rear over 6x9s for fitment. I love Polk components for the front, and you can get just the woofer part of it to install in the rear. More of a preference though I guess for 6.5 vs. 6x9. Just my opinion.

Yeah, components sound better, hands down. If you want bass get an 8" sub and small amp.
