Alright, I'm having some problems with newly installed subwoofers and amp. Whenever I turn the music up (not blasting it, just so its loud) there are occasional squeaks, squeals(strange annoying staticy squealing distortion), and cuts(where the music is cut out all together from all the speakers in the car). Now I suspected the amp had a problem, or the wiring. I read on here about how it could be engine noise or bad wiring, but that doesn't seem logical with the whole system cutting out at times. So my questions is, is it the wiring, the battery, or the alternator? I doubt its the amp, but its always a possibility. Its a Kenwood 800 Watt amp hooked up to 2 12' kenwood 700w subs. It started when I turned on bass boost and tuned the amp to my likings. I've now turned off bass boost and lowered the sensitivy(thought maybe I was demanding too much), but the problems continue. Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time for your responses. P.S. are our cars known for having weak power systems? Just how much of an audio system CAN our car handle with stock power options?)

im almost 100% positive that one of your speaker wires are grounding out somewhere next to the terminals. my friends car was doing this and thats what the problems was. ALL of the surround speakers would cut out and it would just be bass.

ALL my speakers, includng subs, cut out though. It really pisses me off, kind of embarassing to drive around with 600 dollars in ur trunk that doesn't work right. I figure I'm just drawing too much power, so another amp for the speakers is the key? The amp I have is solely for the sub, the speakers are all powered regularly. Sooo, any final opinions? Gonna have to find a cheap sub for now, bleh.

Yeah, if you have a pinched speaker wire in your door that's grounding it it will cause that and it will cause ALL of your speakers to shut off, even your subs, because your head-unit's amp is cutting off and killing the outgoing signal, including the one to your amp via the RCA's.
