#7812, "Dash Speakers"

I wish to put in new 3.5" speakers in a '97 GSX. How difficult is it to reach those speakers? I'm not sure what all needs to come off and what not. Are there any online referrences with diagrams and such?

TIA

You simply take a flat head stubby screw driver, a cloth, and gently pry/pop them out.

If your going to oversize them like that you will have to remove the dash to do the custom work then put the dash back in, then connect the harnesses then install your speakers into the custom holes.

yeah from my experience its better to go a little bit smaller and attach teh speakers to somethign that fits in there, like the old speaker mount (it tears off the old speakers) than to go bigger...but all you need is a flathead and 2 minutes..

Yeah, I'll try to post a pic of my tweeters. I gutted my stock ones and used the frame and grill and secured my Alpine 7/8" tweeters in them, and solder them to the stock harnesses. so they snap in/snap out.
