This is long but please help me..

Today I went to start my car and the damn thing wouldnt even turn over... better yet I couldnt even unlock it with my remote. So I goto unlock my car and start it and my lights are all dimmed. I say what the fuck the battery is brand new why is this happening. And the car wouldnt even attempt to turn over so I don't know if its the battery or the starter. Then my buddy shows up because me and him were suppose to go out chilling tonight. Well I'm furious with the my car and I'm like hey lets try jumping it. Sucess... We jump my car and it starts. Then we hear my starter start stressing like when you overturn the key to long. And we hear this loud grinding noise like 10 seconds later. I run inside my car and shut it off but its still doing it we pull the cables and thats it.. I also have remote start and an alarm and everything, could the alarm be fighting my starter thinking that its tryin to be stolen? I come back to my car 3 hours later and walk to my car and hear this ticking noise I went in the car turned it to start then off and it stopped. Rite now I have the battery disconnected because I don't want it acting up in my sleep. (It's 12:15 now) blah.. Please help and let me know what this is starter? alarm? battery?

Assuming that your remote start alarm is wired correctly I would say your alternator is dead (it's not charging the battery). Also, once your battery has been dead/disconnected for 10 minutes your ECU will reset and your car will run harse when it first starts until it relearns the fuel map. Also, our ECU's are known to make a slight ticking sound when shut off.

if you said the starter was winding or making a grinding noise when started I'm thinking it may be that...but its easier to check the alternator. Do your headlights dim at low engine speeds, then brighten when you give it gas?

Hit up an Autozone and have them do a batt/alt. test (its FREE!!)

Hey, I know the feeling, my alternator is going and I think the battery is on the way out too, but shops keep telling me my alternator is fine and its those "funny guages on the a pillar--they put too much 'load' on the system". Right, that must be why my battery/alt lights are on and the lights dim until i rev the engine.

i would also check the battery terminal connections. make sure they are corrosion free and tight. if necisary, take a wire brush to them (lightly, and be careful, lol) or buy new terminals at any auto store if they look horrible.

poor voltage due to increased resitance causes:

a) hard starts
b) alarm wackyness

just a guess.
