#7785, "Speaker sizes and depth"

I'm looking to replace all the speakers in my g/f's 97 GSX. I need to know what sizes the speakers are and if I should worry about aftermarket speaker depth when replacing her factory speakers.

What aftermarket speakers is everybody using? I'm only changing the speakers for now. She still has the factory HU.

TIA

If I remember right the frints support 5 1/2 woofer in the door and the tweet up above the dash, and the rear is 6 1/2, but a 6x9 will fit there. go with a coaxil front of your going to keep the stock radio.

I thought GSX's also had speakers under the dash by the corners?

Anything is possible. I have oversized 6 1/2's in the doors and the same in the rear. They're Polk MOMO components in the doors and Alpine Type R's in the rear....both are really deep with big ass magnets. So anything will fit basically, I haven't seen many speakers bigger than these pair emoji

did you have to do much modding (if any) to get those big speakers to fit just right?

depending on the trim of the car you wil either have the 5.5 in the front and the 6.5 in the rear or the 6.5 in the fron and 6x9 in the rear, Mitsu has stock 6x9 adapters for the rear if so you choose to get them from them. I modified my stock 5.5 mounting for my 6.5 and my rear 6.5 for my 6x9 and it is all treble, very loud and clean (the way it's supposed to be), all my bass comes from the 10" 800W RMS Kenwood in trun emoji
