This is an awesome alarm system let me tell yea. The remote start is so cool and I can start my car from up to a half mile away almost. Takes about 4 seconds for the car to turn on. The Keychain is great because it notifies me about intrusions. I am planning on gettin more accessories for the alarm just to be it even better. This is a kick ass alarm for $200. I think it was worth every penny.

Not to toss you under the bus, but I have that stupid alarm too. It isnt worth the money. That half mile your talking about, it's with nothing in the way that uses radiowaves. I work at an airport and park like 300 feet from where I work and it just dosnt work. Not to mention that the keychain remote cell phone thing costs a measly $125, and you only get 1 with the alarm... $200 for the whole thing or an upgrade? Damn, if the whole package was $200, I was RIPPED A COUPLE NEW ASSHOLES! I originally started with the 550 then upgraded to this, the whole boat added up to like $600 or $700. The siren is way small too - 3 inches tall, not very loud. If I knew then, when I bought this thing, I would have never bought it. Though I admit its cool to have the cell phone thing and play with it, but its a pain in the ass, also the remote start on a stick is more than too much, going through a lovely 5 steps before shutting the car off, and if the door is opened for whatever reason, the remote start will not work...
Okay, I'm done ripping myself one. There's a lot of ups and downs to this system. Definatly saphisticated (??spelling) piece of equiptment. emoji

...no engine...

I admit the half mile is really only about 3 blocks in reality but it's still nice.. And I believe its loud enough for me, any louder and the neighbors might take a shotgun to my car. Also it has that shock sensor which works pretty good. I am happy with it for being something basic that says get the fuck away from my car and will notify me about it.

If you want louder you can addon a 125dB siren, and you can let your car startup with the doors open if you don't splice the saftey wire with the door wire.

The 790xv takes at least 3 hours for a decent install, but the best alarm shops take an entire day to install it. Most charge 500 installed for it, and some of the better shops charge 600 to 650 installed. It's all in the install of the alarm. I was debating with the Clifford Matrix RS3 (same as 790xv but clifford shock sensor and a couple other clifford components), and chose the Intelliguard 7000. I'm very happy with my alarm, and the Medallion siren is REALLY loud. Plus, it's hooked up to the stock horn too, so it sets off both when it goes off. I have the 7000 in my wrx and a 700 (older model) in my 2gnt, and have had no probs with either. If you don't need remote start, I'd say save your money and go with the Intelliguard series (better technology than the matrix rs3/790xv).
