I've been having this problem where i've been getting water in my car and people say that it could be because the wholes in the trunk were clogged up (which mine were), so if you use the entire spare tire well as a fiberglass box (laying the fiberglass over the entire metal surface), how would you address these drainage issues and could that potentially damage my equiptment. I really want to make a flush install for my subs in a custom trunk, but i don't wanna have my trunk full of water and a few hundred bucks in ruined amps n subs.

obviously the right thing to do would be to fix the leak first, lol! if not, you should be able to easily lay the glass over a silicon tube that runs from the point of leakage to the drain under the tire well. you mihgt want to also mount the amps in a place that doesnt get wet. you could mount them vertically on an amp rack in "front" of the backseat in the trunk, for instance.

true, the leak should be fixed very soon, especially since my car's in the shop cuz it got rear-ended unfortunately i won't have the funds to go for my new setup until next year probably (jan/feb '04). if not then i'll have to figure out what the hell it is on my own, it seems to be a pretty common problem. the subs that i had in the hatch before sat on that piece of shit little wood cover that covers the spare tire well and they never got wet, but the spare tire compartment had a little bit of water and mold like crazy so i'm hesitant to put anything expensive down there.

I had this problem last week my trunk filled up with like 4 inches of water. It was the drainage holes were clogged. I unclogged them and removed a rubber thingy at the bottom of the runk to drain the water. havnt had a problem since.

i had the same problem when i had my car and noticed on my other. oen thing that i found was that the piece in the rear on the passenger side that had the plastic vents, wasn't snug. i siliconed it as a temp and my water problems stopped. check that and see if that might be your problem too. i noticed it was common cause my other was like that too.
