Yup, not a big deal, I just have to turn off the cd and turn it back on. I turn the volume up and after a short while, all the speakers turn off but I can only hear the subs bumpin. Anyone ever had this problem. Is it the headunit? My battery? bad connection? Could it be Xplod being gay? I have new subs, amp, headunit, optima battery.

How are you powering the highs? if it's your head unit, maybe your taxing its amp too much and its overheating. if it overheats, it will clip (if the piece is worth anything).

I have the stock infinity amp hooked up to the speakers and headunit I guess. I have a expensive Xplod MP3 Mp80 headunit that I spent $300. If I dont turn up the volume then the speakers are fine. It does this occasionally, but when it happens its wont stop happening until next day usually.

Sounds like your infinity amp is clipping. get better ventilation to to it.
hopefully you're connected from the xplod to the infinity through RCA's. Maybe that's how the infinity is hooked up...I don't have that system, so I don't know how that amp is hooked in.
If it is running from the Xplod to the amp via RCA's, I'd take the amp out of line and run the speaker wires directly from your head unit to the speakers. You should have no problems then as the sony was designed to work with the power it puts out.

I would do what ^^^ said. Try and run the speakers off the head unit (as long as it has an amp in it, some head unuts don't). It should power your speakers the same if not better than the stock infinity amp. Good luck man.

Yeah I bet the oem Infinity amp is hitting thermal or input voltage overload. Easy way to check for thermal is to tape one of those outdoor digital thermometers to the hottest part of the amp. If it always cuts out at the same temp, you need ventilation. If it cuts out at a certain volume but random temps, then there's too much input voltage going to the amp.
