I got one quick Q and need opions quick in case they sell it quick here. The tweeters here in my local town has a used EclipseCD4551 head unit on its used equip. sell off shelf. The Salesperson said he wouldnt sell it to me due it not reading any disc and i had to beg him just about for the price. Which BTW is $138.99. I walked out to my car which happens to be my very sweet turbo eclipse and noticed right away that my OEM raido and cd player are two complete seperate units. My Q is this, if i cant some how get the CD to read in the new head unit is there some way to control the OEM player for the Eclipse cd5441 head unit. Also for the price do u think it would be worth my time and efforts considering that most Eclipse head units start at like $250.00. BTW heres a link to the same model for referance and referance only... http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...p;category=3293

Thanks so much in advance...ill post pics later if i do get

I'm not sure that it would work. You are better off just getting a head unit for a little more that works imo.

i have an eclipse HU w/changer, and if the power is disconnected for too long it needs a "key-cd" to unlock it and enable it to play again. The key-cd is something the owner specifies when they first get the unit. So for what it's worth, you are S.O.L. if you can't find the key cd. You could try calling eclipse direct to see what they can do for you.

Not sure if this is the same situation you have, but seemed like it.

As far as controlling the stock cd player with an aftermarket HU, good luck. I highly doubt it.
