Hey guys-
I'm looking at a viper alarm...not sure which model yet or if I actually have much to choose from. Probably a Responder.

The only extra thing I want to add is a motion detector.

I was wondering what's a good price and how much should I expect to pay on a install.

A couple of questions also for XtremeRS:
-can the motion detector be armed separately from the alarm it self? Example would be alarm is armed but the motion detector is off till I turn it on with another remote button.

-and can the proximity range be adjusted on a motion detector?

sorry...I don't know much about alarms and was use to it being the stock horn...pardon the noobness.

thanks!

Well price can very from shop to shop, and also from city, to city, but if you are looking at the responder, remote start and alarm, we sell them for 450 installed. That includes keyless entry, and shock sensor, ect, but not a motion sensor. We charge 75 extra for a motion sensor installed. With any DEI alarm, you can disable any "zone" you want to. You do this by pressing the arm button a certain number of times, after you arm the alarm. The siren will chirp the number of times for which zone, ex 3 chirps= zone 3. You will have to find out which zone the installer put the motion sensor on. The motion sensor can be adjusted. It has 2 zones. One for the interior of the car, and one for the exterior. Lets say your window is down, and someone sticks their hand in it, the alarm will go off. Or, if someone gets too close to your car, the alarm will give off the warning chirps. Two downfalls to the motion sensor- first, it only works through glass, not metal, so its most sensitive by the sides of the car, around the glass. Second, the sensor will not work for a crap if you have metalized window tint. It acts a barrier for the sensor's microwaves. Most lower priced tint is not metalized though.

I just bought a Viper Alarm and got it installed from a friend.. He later found out that he needed a seperate module to program it and you have to be autohorized to get that type of equipment luckily he was friends with someone that has the module to program it so it was no big deal.
