i have a DEI rattler alarm installed..... it sometimes didnt beep when i armed/disarmed it, then other times it did....the alarms still goes off fine, but now it doesnt beep at all when i arm it? is a relay bad in the brain, or is there a code or something i can do.... this is already my second one i had to get because the first one, the lights would stick on and wouldnt go off....????

by the way....its not set that way.... im starting to lean towards a bad internal relay....but the thing is only 2 weeks old or so...this is already the second one, have i just had bad luck, or are these systems very faulty?

My god I hated when that happened to me. I had a dei viper alarm. One day out of nowhere it just stopped beeping. The starter would be disengaged, the interior led would blink, the lights would blink, but no sound at all. And I checked it a thousand times, it wasnt in valet or silent mode.

Brought it to the sound shop that installed it a few years ago, and the first time they charged me 20$ to reset and reprogram the unit which worked for a while...

But three months later it happened again and I brought it back. Turns out the siren itself was dead, they said that moisture and stuff can build up in them, and after a couple years its not uncommon at all for the sirens to go bad. They gave me a new sire, and upgraded it to a higher model for free (cause mine wasnt made anymore, and cause i paid them 20$ just a few months ago and the same problem came back).


So...check your connections, and if you still cant find the problem and everything else is working but the siren, its either a) stuck in silent mode and needs reprograming, or b) you got a dead/dieing siren. (my new siren cost me like 60$ including labor.

it actually wasnt even arming....i must of had it in the mode that just locks/unlocks the doors...but i dont know how it got in that mode....it still doesnt make sense to me why sometimes it would beep and sometimes a half beep and sometimes none at all...oh well, works for now

with the viper alarm i had on the talon, hitting button 1, 2, 1 would disarm the alarm and put it into valet mode. This prevents the alarm from activating itself after 30 sec, prevents the alarm from going off it tripped, and when you hit button 1 on the keychain, it only flashes the lights once. to get it out you hit 1,2,1 again.

If I remember correct, I would do this with the drivers door open.

yeah...thats what i had to do...but you dont need the door open.... it still works only 75% of the time....sometimes it just wont beep for a couple clicks...then will work fine....ehh, what the hell, it arms at least now
